The American fast food restaurant franchise McDonald's has more than 36,000 establishments in 118 territories and countries around the world; Venezuela is one of them. Its products have captivated millions of customers for its hamburgers, fries, breakfasts and desserts.


McDonald's maintained its operation with traditional data links in all its restaurants; however, the dessert centers were isolated from the network due to the cost of increasing the number of links. It is important to mention that each dessert center depends on a restaurant because it represents one more box for it.

For this reason, the star topology meant a challenge to achieve the required configuration, it was not feasible to consolidate the information of a dessert center during the opening or closing of the locations. It was then necessary to manually collect the data, this entails significant logistical costs because the staff had to travel with physical means to collect said information to add it to the restaurant and send the sales record to the main headquarters.
